I am a defence lawyer specializing in criminal law with more than 15 years of successful legal practice. Before establishing my own law firm, I was an equity partner at the distinguished criminal law firm HammPartner in Frankfurt am Main. My legal career began at the renowned commercial law firm Hengeler Mueller in Frankfurt.

A particular focus of my work lies in banking and capital markets criminal law, where I have extensive experience from numerous significant proceedings. For example, I have defended in one of the largest cases to date involving allegations of insider trading and, in one of the first cases conducted under the EU Market Abuse Regulation, successfully prevented a conviction for market manipulation in the aggravated criminal form pursuant to Section 119 (5) No. 2 of the German Securities Trading Act (WpHG).

My practical experience in capital markets criminal law provided the basis for my doctoral thesis on the criminal liability for market manipulation under the European market abuse regime, which I completed in 2022 at the University of Augsburg under the supervision of Professor Dr Dr hc Michael Kubiciel. I regularly publish on issues in capital markets criminal law, most recently in an article in Börsen-Zeitung on market manipulation involving artificial intelligence.

Alongside my legal practice, I teach economic criminal law together with Professor Dr Deiters in the Master’s program “Mergers & Acquisitions” at the University of Münster. I have also been teaching criminal and business criminal law for many years as part of the trainee lawyer program of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association.

I gained international professional experience during a six-month secondment at the law firm Roschier in Helsinki and during my legal traineeship at Shearman & Sterling in New York. The insights gained continue to shape my work today and support the precise analysis of complex cases with an international dimension.

I studied in Münster, Edinburgh and Heidelberg. My academic background is complemented by a classical secondary education at the humanistic Kaiser-Wilhelm- und Ratsgymnasium in Hannover, where I obtained qualifications in Latin, Greek and Hebrew.
